Hope Waits
Living life the fullest I could,
I faced all that I dared I would.
Though through it all I’ve made no friends;
Preparing for when I face the end.
For into the shade I’ve fallen,
Where voices surround me calling;
A child’s voice echoes so clearly,
Crying out, "Please stop it daddy."
His curses rip open the void,
As shadows claim the boy, annoyed.
Unable to recall the light;
The cracks deepen the more I fight.
Memories of the pain and harm,
Rob me now of my subtle charm.
Unable to mend what’s busted,
I’ve betrayed all those I’ve trusted.
Staring just outside the window,
The tide is rising, that I know.
As I long to hear a soft voice,
Reminding me that I’ve a choice.
I’m lost with no friends to aid me,
'Cause no one cares, no one can see,
How I betrayed those I cared for,
How shadows flood into my core.
Falling through an open window,
Who I was is lost to shadows;
So now along an endless wall,
I roam, in hope something comes of it all.
